Bobst e Xerox abandonam a Drupa. As feiras deveriam se preocupar?

Há bastante especulação de que estas são as primeiras, mas não serão as últimas baixas na Drupa, assim como outras feiras consideradas "pilares" em setores como comunicação visual, impressão offset e digital também devem sofrer com o chamado "novo normal"

Um comunicado simples e direto enviado por uma das maiores fabricantes de máquinas do setor gráfico mundial – a suíça Bobst Group – anunciou:

Estamos reduzindo a nossa presença nas feiras do setor e, em consequencia, diminuindo radicalmente o nosso impacto ambiental. Como resultado, decidimos não expor mais na Drupa e em outras feiras em 2021, limitando-nos apenas a uma participação nos eventos da Ásia.

Ela prossegue em seu comunicado, dizendo que na última década, o número de feiras setoriais aumentou significativamente, ao mesmo tempo em que novas tecnologias na área de comunicação oferecem novos rumos na seara do “compartilhamento de conteúdo”.

No caso dela, especificamente, isso permitirá aumentar o engajamento dos clientes levando os seus Centros de Competência a um novo patamar, da mesma forma como novas tecnologias devem culminar brevemente na transformação das fábricas convencionais em “inteligentes”.

Esta notícia, isolada, talvez não disparasse um alarme. Mas há alguns dias, a norteamericana Xerox, em declaração à revista inglesa PrintWeek, compartilhou da decisão:

A drupa 2020 foi adiada devido à pandemia da Covid-19, com um novo evento agendado para o próximo mês de abril. Dada a incerteza continuada em torno da realização de grandes eventos durante uma pandemia, e pela nossa própria programação para apresentações de produtos, a Xerox decidiu não participar na feira.”

Há bastante especulação de que estas são as primeiras, mas não serão as últimas baixas na Drupa, assim como outras feiras consideradas “pilares” em setores como comunicação visual, impressão offset e digital também devem sofrer com o chamado “novo normal” (no caso das feiras deste ano, a impossibilidade de represar por tanto tempo um calendário de lançamentos por parte dos expositores é outro fator digno de nota).

Feiras menores, de nicho, conseguirão manter-se, uma vez que são capazes de reunir mais facilmente um público qualificado e específico. Mas o trade-off dos mega eventos, em trazer audiência massiva e, ao mesmo tempo, entregar aos expositores a oportunidade de acessar os decisores, é algo muito complicado de ser superado.

As feiras, decerto, não acabaram. Mas a pandemia acelerou o aprendizado, a cultura e o questionamento de todos para soluções que, remotamente, encurtam a distância e ainda sim, entregam uma experiência interessante – como é o caso dos ambientes virtuais, realidade aumentada e plataformas de streaming cada vez melhores e mais versáteis.

Os organizadores destes eventos terão de se reinventar e recriar a experiência das feiras, para perseverar e continuar entregando retornos aos investidores – expositores, como historicamente o fizeram por tantas décadas.
